This image was inspired by an old Family Circus comic strip. I have had to stop work on it for another project but hope to return soon.
I have learned a lot doing this image. I have had to rethink the way I do materials and lighting. When I started I was doing the trick on putting an ambient occlusion shader on an omni light and just using any old material. This caused major issues when I began getting strong highlights on the more reflective materials from that light even when that omni light was turned off. I started using the arch+design mentat ray material exclusively and adding my AO to the material that way. I never really worked too much on the lighting in the scene. I am using two mr area spots coming in the window. One to shine on the floor and one to light up the room. The rest is AO and FG.
Eventually I will add more things to the kitchen as well as my family. Hope to return to this and have it done soon.
Thanks for viewing.

Again these are more models to be added to my kitchen scene. Lavell is my son’s middle name. The label was done in corelDRAW. I have begun using only the Arch @ Design material because it is so easy to get the effects I want with out a lot of effort. I really like the glossy reflections you can get with it.

This was a scene I created just after I learned about ambient occlusion. I was used two lights in the daytime scene. A spot light for the sun coming in the window for the sun and a second area light for the ambient light coming through the window. The night time scene has one light in the closet. The image outside the window is a render from another scene. At the time I was putting an ambient occlusion shader on an omni light. I have now been putting the AO on the material. I didn’t us final gather or global illumination in this scene.
